Bauhaus Café in Ashford, Kent is not your typical café – on the surface, it’s a café that serves tea and coffee sourced from across the globe. However, it’s also a not-for-profit business that has been set up to showcase the work of local artists, with regular gallery shows exhibiting art pieces from students and up-and-coming artists.

The Pick’n’Fix competition

During our Watertight for Winter campaign, SES Business Water ran a competition to give a local business the opportunity to win £1000 to treat their team, along with an expert Watertight Makeover. The winner was able to choose three essential services from our Pick’n’Fix range. Three runners up also won Watertight Makeovers for their business premises, worth £150 each. Bauhaus Café were one of our lucky runners-up.

What we did

Bauhaus Café had a few common water maintenance jobs that we were able to fix straight away, including a dripping tap and a leak in the sink waste. There was also an issue with their stopcock as the isolation valve wouldn’t switch off, so we fitted a new stopcock for them.

The results

We’re delighted that we could make the repairs needed at Bauhaus Café, as we anticipate that the leaks we fixed will make a noticeable difference to their utility bills. The new stopcock will also be beneficial for the café as it’s critical to be able to switch the stopcock off in the event of a burst pipe.

Betsy Aidinyantz, manager of Bauhaus Café, said, “As a non-profit organisation, our priority is supporting artists and providing our customers with a high-quality service, so maintenance jobs like fixing leaks are often forgotten about. We’re really grateful for the Watertight Makeover we received as it means we can stop leaking money and use our funds to keep supporting local talent!”
